Lesson
South has a big one. He starts with 2C and rebids 2NT to show 22-23 HCP's. North has ample to bid 3NT and that becomes the contract. West leads the five of spades to the queen and king. South holds up and holds up again when East follows with the jack. East leads the three next and South is obliged to win. If the diamonds come home there will be enough tricks. However, finessing a diamond into West might be bad if West has the queen and can cash two more spade winners, a distinct danger. One thing is clear. 3NT is not making without some extra tricks in diamonds. One way to get them is to play to the ace and finesse the jack. Good if it works. Bad if it loses. Question: Got a better idea?
